Job Description:
The Portfolio Analyst plays a critical role within the Project Management Office (PMO), supporting the successful planning, financial tracking, and execution of project portfolios. This role is responsible for developing initial project assessments, facilitating validation sessions with Business Owners, and ensuring alignment across all relevant stakeholders. The Portfolio Analyst ensures project data is current, accurate, and effectively used to drive executive decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial reporting and forecasting experience, expertise in managing project budgets, and advanced Excel skills. They will also have hands-on experience working in a formal PMO environment and familiarity with Clarity PPM and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) or Agile frameworks.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project assessments to support portfolio planning and prioritization.
  • Partner with Business Owners and cross-functional teams to validate project requirements and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Provide accurate financial reporting and forecasting for projects and programs, including budget creation, tracking, and variance analysis.
  • Manage project budgets to ensure fiscal responsibility and alignment with portfolio goals.
  • Keep all project data accurate and up to date within the project portfolio management (PPM) system, dashboards, and reports.
  • Support the full lifecycle of projects and enhancements, from intake and assessment through execution and closure.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to optimize PMO processes and leverage the full capabilities of Clarity PPM for reporting and portfolio management.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level reports and presentations summarizing financial health, project performance, and portfolio insights.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure consistent application of PMO methodology and governance standards.
  • Support the monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure portfolio health, resource utilization, and financial performance.
 
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a project portfolio analyst, project financial analyst, or similar PMO-focused role.
  • Strong financial reporting experience with demonstrated ability to produce accurate and actionable insights.
  • Proven experience managing and tracking project budgets and expenditures.
  • Financial forecasting experience, including variance analysis and projection modeling.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency, including Pivot Tables, VLookups, and complex formulas.
  • Experience working in a formal PMO environment with structured methodologies and governance processes.
  • Hands-on experience with Clarity PPM (Project Portfolio Management tool) for reporting and portfolio tracking.
  • Familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and/or Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and present data-driven insights to leadership.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience in enterprise-level organizations managing large portfolios.
  • Exposure to Power BI or other data visualization tools.
