Job Description:
The Web Accessibility Consultant will support the Client in remediating its website and digital content to achieve compliance with federally mandated digital accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1). This role will be responsible for identifying accessibility issues, developing and implementing remediation strategies, and ensuring accessibility is integrated into the Department’s ongoing processes.

Job Description:
The Web Accessibility Consultant will support the Client in remediating its website and digital content to achieve compliance with federally mandated digital accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1). This role will be responsible for identifying accessibility issues, developing and implementing remediation strategies, and ensuring accessibility is integrated into the Department’s ongoing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough audits of the Client website, web applications, and other digital content to identify accessibility issues.
- Document accessibility issues clearly and provide practical, standards-based remediation recommendations.
- Work collaboratively with developers, designers, communications staff, and stakeholders to ensure accessibility is built into design and publishing workflows.
- Provide training and guidance to the Client staff on accessibility best practices to support long-term compliance.
Requirements and Skills:
- Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1).
- Proficiency in web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and ARIA roles.
- Ability to develop and implement solutions to accessibility issues, including remediation of documents and web content.
- Experience in web development, digital content remediation, or user experience design.
- Familiarity with accessibility testing tools (e.g., WAVE, Siteimprove) and assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers such as NVDA).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document issues and train non-technical staff.
